There is nothing that reminds me of Christmas as I look around. Everything in Michigan after rain in July is lush and every imaginable shade of green can be seen. Besides the smell of a skunk somewhere off in the distance everything is glorious. And then the Christmas song that has been dormant for the last 6 months pops into my mind, “Glorious” by For King and Country.
The song talks about our Immanuel, God with us. Here are a few phrases in the song
Glorious is God with us
He is the miracle of the love that set the people free
He is the wonder of the world like we have never seen
Chris continues to enjoy the freedom of feeling more like himself. He is seizing the day and being as active as his body will allow before the next (3rd) round of chemo, July 17th. He is starting to lift some light weights to rebuild the muscle he lost from the cancer. Since he did not have much fat the cancer enjoyed his muscles as a meal. Please pray for Chris to continue to listen to his body. Praise God for this ability!
The kids packed their bags for camp, something we planned months ago, kind of a right of passage that we want for them. They left today, July 9 (see picture). A week of camp is not really something most missionary kids can get when they live abroad. They are a little nervous as they don’t know what to expect. Please pray for safety, health, and a positive experience, but most of all that their love for and knowledge of the Lord would deepen.
We continue to wait to hear about school, so that decision has not been made yet. We have applied to two Christian schools, to keep the kids in a system that is more familiar for them, when so much will be unfamiliar for them while we are in the US. We know the schools have spaces for our kids, and we thank God for that. We are waiting for the financial information to be shared with us. Please pray as we wait, everyone is eager to have this decision made. Please pray that the financial needs will be met as schooling is expensive here, and clear direction.
Our future housing needs are still yet to be revealed. We know he has a good plan for us! Your continued prayers for this are appreciated.
Lord, you are glorious
Help us see your glory
In our day to day activities
At camp, at home
In our waiting
Lord, you are with us
Help us leave room for your presence
In our day to day activities
At camp, at home
In our waiting
My prayers are with you. For you, Chris, to know just how much to push yourself. And, Becca, for you to have wisdom as your family’s glue. I will also be praying that Luis, Lucas and Emmalene enjoy a special week of camp. Praying, too, for good decisions for schooling & housing🙏💕🎶
This really is such a God story in the making and you are the main characters He has chosen to use to show others His glory and goodness. He knew He could trust you to carry this journey in a way that glorifies Him.
Praise God He has all the puzzle pieces and is putting this jigsaw of the story together piece by piece, each in it’s perfect timing.
Thank you for your continued witness of praise to God, joy, hope and peace through this all.
The Lord bless each of you five in ways that grow you and strengthen you in Him.
Be still, my soul; the Lord is on your side;
bear patiently the cross of grief or pain;
leave to your God to order and provide,
in ev’ry change he faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul; your best, your heav’nly Friend
through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.
God is good all of the time; all of the time, God is good.
We pray for each of you daily. Each of you are safe in His sheepfold.❤️🩹
Camp should be fun! All three going, even Emalene? Wow! So when we’re your kids last in an American school?
Love this photo!!
Lord Jesus we welcome your full provision for the Hirt family. You will be done on earth as it is in heaven. You know there needs and you will supply all their needs in your will and way. We welcome that provision. In Jesus name.
Laughing and crying with you! Thanks for your sharing – I love the photo! Will continue to pray for you, friends! For fun and meaningful times at camp, for strength, rest and peace – and of course complete healing!
Dear Chris and Becca,
In our garden here we have a flower that’s called “Gloriosa”, so at first I thought you might be talking about a flower. I don’t know that song but I agree that He is Glorious beyond description! He is with you each step of the way!
Praying for you, Hella

We are continuing to pray with you and for you all, and we are grateful for these updates to pray along with specifics. We entrust all the details into God’s loving care and wait in hope for the Lord, from Psalm 27:14 and Psalm 33:20-22 (NIV):
“We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love be with us, LORD, even as we put our hope in you.”
May camp be for the kids a wonderful experience of the love of God shown through friendships, kindness and a lot of fun!
May Chris listen well to his body – both in rebuilding strength and resting.
May Becca receive grace upon grace as she supports, initiates, and carries additional weight of responsibility in this season.
May love and joy abound as each one leans into your Presence – joy, power, and love!
Hi Chris and Rebecca! Great news! Yes, strength building is important. Chris will need the endurance the strength training gives. May God go before you as you seek housing and educational opportunities for your family!
Blessings Ken
Praying for this week at camp to be impactful for each child. May they see our glorious Christ meet them right where they are.
And may you see the same this week while they are away.

Pausing to pray right now for camp, school decisions, financial aid at the schools, and housing and for the third round of chemo to be gentle feeling yet harsh on the cancer.
