Freedom

Chris woke and felt well, and today, Day 9, of the second cycle he took a short 15 min run with Lucas! Freedom!

His blood draw results on Monday went very well. We got a call from our nurse and we have been freed to not have any more blood draws until the next round of chemo! We have gone from blood draws every 3-4 days a week to just 1-2 every 21 days! It feels like we just got a HUGE gift! Freedom! Who doesn’t love more freedom!?

Chris still needs naps.  He rests about 1-3 times a day for various amounts of time.  It makes a big difference in his overall energy. He had nausea after chemo but less than Round 1.

Freedom is not free, there is usually a cost…and there was for each of us

Jesus’ sacrifice brought true and lasting freedom.

Because Jesus is our Immanuel, God with us, we can be truly free, even in the midst of suffering.

My reflections on Psalm 139:7-10

Where can I go from your Spirit?

Where can I flee from your presence?

If I fly on many planes and live in different continents, you are there;

If I rest my head on different pillows, some hard, some soft, you are there.

If I have have your hope and joy in the morning, if I have times of deep sadness and loss,

Even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.

still eager to read the updates,
    still loving you all,
still meaning to send $ to help with costs,
still thinking you should gather all these writings into a book,
still so thankful for the deep faith you both show on this journey.
    Much love!

  2. Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed.
    Hebrews 12:12
We are praising our God for this report and for the truth of His Word to you, to each of us. We are sending our love to you on this great day for each of us.

  3. Praying for you all as you navigate this surprising and challenging season in your life as a family, couple, individuals….Followers of Jesus. 4. Hello, Chris and Rebecca! This is a huge victory! I’m so happy for you all! *Yes, do keep physically active*. Exercise has marvelous benefits in terms of uplifting one’s mood, and releasing stimulating hormones and other chemicals. I once read an article that claimed that over 10,000 chemicals were released into the bloodstream after just 10 minutes of vigorous exercise.

  5. What a beautiful picture!!
I praise God for your encouraging news…..for all the freedoms that you spoke of….for the freedom that we celebrate today.
Even when we feel discouraged, unhappy, broken, God is there to lift us up. I hope and pray that HE continues to lift up
Chris (and your entire family)through your journey.
    Blessings to the Hirt family!
