All days have ups and downs, that is just part of life and the Lord and his truth and love holds us.These days it feels like the ups and downs are felt more like a roller coaster and we are holding even tighter to His truth and love. One moment we enjoy the wind through our hair and the next trying to relax our white knuckles in the midst of the struggle.
Today, Chris had a hard morning with more pain, discomfort, and feelings of exhaustion, so he started some narcotics. We thank God they worked to relieve pain and seemed to help his energy levels. He had additional pain in the evening, but thankfully it was only about 30 minutes. This is what we imagine is nerve pain from the enlarged lymph nodes pressing on his nerves in his groin.
Thanks to Chris’ parents the kids are in Chicago doing their usual decompression. Thanks to my parents for transportation Chris and I headed back to GR. Moving from one world (Thailand) to another (US) is not the easiest experience for kids. Leaving space for intentional time to make the transition between worlds for both our bodies, minds, and heart has been important and helpful.
The kids went on a “field trip” to Walmart today…for most of you a trip to Walmart is business as usual but for our kids it’s more like a field trip. This was the wind in our hair…
And the treats of pickles, fruit snacks, deep fried shrimp, beef jerky were the icing on the cake. Thanks Nana and Papa!
Chris said today that given the way he has been feeling he seems to feel like he will just stumble across the finish line to get to the steroids on Wednesday morning, as we have been told they should help him feel better. We must wait until the biopsy (Tues) is over, so about 33 more hours until he can take those. Watching him in pain is hard.
Lord, help us see you in the moments with the wind flowing through our hair when the ride feels fun.
Lord, help us see you in the moments when our knuckles are white with concern, fear and confusion and we want the ride to end.
Romans 1:20
For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
