Shots

Who likes shots? No one, or no one that I know!

Thankfully, the shot that Chris got today will boost his white blood cell count. And shots given by friends are more tolerable by the way. See picture below.

Lord, we are continually amazed by how you provide, why was I surprised that a nurse in his unit has been a friend for 20 years?! Maybe you find joy in surprising us God?!

Chris has been wrestling with some minor nausea but he has been willing to eat, even if he is not motivated to do so.

And re: food? The Lord is blessing us with His daily bread. Yes, through practical, delicious, and tangible means like I mentioned above, but also prayer, Scripture, and his Truth.

Thank you Lord for the food you have provided through so many, and food that Chris likes, so that he can get the nutrition he needs. Thank you so much more for your Truth that sustains us and really keeps us going longer than any meal or bowl of mint chocolate chip ice cream ever could.

Basics: Chris’ platelets went up a tad today (Thank you Lord), he walked to appointments pain free (oh, thank you again Lord), and he even walked down to the river by where we are staying (Lord, you are blessing us so much). He is getting naps and short visits with friends and family too. (Jesus, thank you for creating naps).

Thank you Lord for continued days with no pain, no pain medication, and we ask you to help Chris by eliminating the nausea.

All the kids had “field trips” today. Emalene got to go to the zoo with friends, and the boys went to BassPro with my dad (yes, to folks like us, that is indeed a field trip). For now, the kids are experiencing the more enjoyable parts of being in the US all the while learning about differences between Thailand and the US….For instance the boys insisted a house nearby MUST be having a garage sale (they love these), but indeed it was not. It was a house that prefers to have many, many, things outside. The boys struggled to comprehend why we would have to wait for the house to post a sign in order to stop by to see what they were “selling”.

  12. Hi Chris and Becca, Somehow we dropped off the email updates after Monday the 4th and were worried. Good to catch up with the good happenings! Wonderful to have decreased pain and rising platelet counts. Lord, keep shrinking those pesky lymph nodes! We are indeed wonderfully made!! A Care Package of crafts and stuff is on its way to the kids. Enjoy! Love and Hugs!!

  13. Chris ‘ smile says so much about the cool ice cream and his relationship with our God. We are praising Him for the many ways he is providing for your family!

  14. Glad for smiles and food that is tolerable and outings for kids. Praying for you all

  15. We are truly rejoicing that your platelet count is up a little bit. Every little bit counts for a lot. Encouragement is not a small thing. From the nurse who knows you and loves you, from ice cream, from your children scouting the neighborhood, from your mom and dad from Becca‘s mom and dad, many friends, and many meals, the river you can visit, the lack of pain that can be so renewing. I can never forget how good our God is, and how mighty he is to save. And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. 14 The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” Exodus 14: 13,14

  16. So thankful for these gifts. Praying for the kids to have great times of exploration in Michigan.

  17. Is Chris in a hospital in Grand Rapids? I just got back from Nepal (with 10 students from Calvin) and saw this. If it is ok, I am happy to go see Chris if they are allowing visitors. If you can let me know the visiting hours?
