Today was a big day that we anticipated for weeks if not months, knowing that the PET test results from last Monday’s test and the time with our medical team would have notable impact on our coming weeks, months, and years.
On Sunday night we were so relieved to finally get the report. It felt like we were reading the mid-point PET scan report, they mirrored each other so closely. Our nurse practitioner was thrilled that both his bloodwork and the scan had perfect results.
While the beginning of Chris’s cancer journey was eventful, stressful, painful, and debilitating, the last several months Chris’s journey has been “boring”, meaning the opposite of eventful and challenging. Boring is good according to our medical team; a little humor can go a long way in the cancer wing of a medical facility. Boring means the treatment has been going well, as hoped for, predictable even for their medical expertise.
While boring is good in this current reality of our life, we know that God is anything but boring. His plans and his purposes are often the opposite of boring, and this too is good, even very good. Even more so, God’s plans are good even if the results today were not boring.
We praise God for a boring medical report, but even more so we thank God for being who He is: alive, active, working in and through all of us to bring forth his Kingdom, for his Kingdom and His power is anything but boring.
Hebrews 4:12

Thankful to hear such boring news! 😀
Woohooooo God!
So good to hear the wonderful news! Thanks for your thoughtful posts as you’ve shared your journey.
I’ve been praying for your decision this week re plans for next semester, and just wanted to encourage you not to feel that you need to rush back. You all (including the kids) need time to rest and recover from a very full-on six months. There will be grief over things you miss in Thailand, etc., but there will be joy and new things for each one of you in the States. I’m reminded of Isaiah 40:11 — God gently leads those with young. May you know his gentle leading beside the quiet waters as He refreshes you physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
