#6

We crossed of chemo #6 for Chris on Monday.  Phew, we are glad we reached that milestone and it is in the past.

During the treatment we could see the accumulation of the whole chemo process on his body as he was more tired and feeling especially unlike himself.  This continued even throughout the past two days.  Thankfully, this evening, Wednesday, he was perking up again.

They removed the vincristine for a second time, part of his chemo protocol. This drug is the main contributor to his neuropathy, and since he could not report a significant improvement in the neuropathy from chemo #5 to chemo #6 it was concluded it was best to continue to withhold.

Bloodwork continues to be excellent.

The current plan stands that for the next 2.5 weeks he will finish this cycle and continue to recuperate.  It really does take time to “claw” his way back again, as he likes to put it at times.

His PET scan is scheduled for Monday, October 16th.

Review of the PET scan and future treatment discussions will be on Monday, October 23, just a day after Chris’s 44th birthday!  The doctor has indicated that the PET scan will be the only test he will need to determine prognosis and next steps.  Phrases like “remission likely” and “testing every 3 months” have been mentioned in our last three appointments.

We continue to give thanks to the Lord!!

Join us in prayer for:

-continued healing in Chris’s body

-clear direction from the medical team regarding next steps

-clarity from the Lord regarding his path for us, both now and ahead

-comfort for the kids as they persevere and to seize the day where they are

Below is a picture of Emalene “seizing” the day. The first time that she remembers eating CoolWhip.

  4. I’m sorry this week has been harder than your usual-after-chemo, Chris.
You have significant experience now at recovering – or “clawing” your way back! I believe that’s an important life skill, but I’m still sorry you’ve had to learn it such a hard way. Hopefully your kids will just learn it from your example.
Praise God for holding you up and holding you all together through this!
You – Chris, Becca, Luis, Lucas, and Emalene (of the amazing hair) – are always on our hearts and in our prayers!

  5. LORD, we pray that Chris may soon be back to normal after his 6th Chemo. Father, we pray for a decisive PET scan and wisdom for the doctors to determine the next steps. Father, you know every cell in Chris’ body, you are able to give the doctors wisdom beyong their knowledge, and you can heal and restore Chris to complete health. We trust in you. Amen.

  11. Chris, you are a shining example of pushing through tribulation. In my daily devotion, this was the verse. “Knowing that tribulation worketh patience” (Romans 5:3). I so wish you would not have to endure this, but for a reason only the Lord knows, He’s using this time for His greater purpose. I am praying for your endurance and your warrior spirit!
